Cairo to Aswan

One Week Itinerary Cairo to Aswan

(Cairo – Aswan – Luxor)

Summary

A one week whistle stop tour of Cairo and Upper Egypt. This is a really tight itinerary if done in a single week (more leisurely in ten days) and I’d recommend you pre book all train tickets, your Nile cruise, and all hotel accommodation.

Description

Spend the first two days in Cairo (see full Cairo Itinerary) visiting the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and the markets before taking an overnight train south to Aswan (or alternatively take a cheap flight to Aswan), and then working your way back north.

Spend two days in Aswan enjoying the river Nile and its surroundings by felucca. If time and money permit make the trip to the Sudanese border to visit Abu Simbel.

On day 5 take an early train to Luxor and spend the remainder of day five and six visiter the monuments around Egypt’s ancient capital. On the evening of day six, take the overnight train back to Cairo arriving on the morning of Day 7.
