Moving on by Bus

Buses travel from Luxor to Safaga, Hurghada, Cairo, Suez, and Ras Ghareb. If you are travelling in a group of two or more, officially you will need to travel as part of a convoy with other vehicles and police escorts. However this is not strictly policed and seems to vary.

Luxor bus station is location a one minute walk away from the railway station. Exit the railway station and turn left. Just before you reach a car park you will see a small office on the left hand with a sign in the window (see photo above). Be advised that the staff in the office consistently give unreliable and inaccurate information.

You should buy your tickets in advance to avoid being told that the bus is full on departure. Travel agents in town can also buy tickets for you in advance. Some buses actually depart from another bus station located near the airport. Be sure you know which one you need to be at when you travel. Read more about Bus Schedules in Egypt
