Cairo to Awan with Nile Cruise

Cairo to Aswan with Nile Cruise

(Cairo - Aswan - Abu Simbel - Kom Ombo - Edfu - Luxo - Cairo)

Summary

Two weeks will allow fair exploration of Cairo, Luxor and Aswan while still permitting time to cruise along the Nile for a couple of days. You may want to consider pre booking your train tickets, your Nile cruise, and some some/all hotel accommodation depending on the season.

Description

On arrival in Cairo, you can spend two days in the city (see full Cairo Itinerary) visiting the various Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and the markets before taking an overnight train south to Aswan on the evening of Day 3 (or alternatively take a cheap flight to Aswan), and then working your way back north.

On the morning of day 4 you’ll arrive in Aswan by train and have almost three full days there to explore (attractions in Aswan).

Day 5 is free to visit Abu Simbel either by coach or plane (time and budget permitting). After breakfast on day 7 you’ll board your Nile cruise boat. Days 7, 8 and 9 will then be spent on board typically stopping on route at both Edfu and Kom Ombo temple while the vessel cruises to Luxor.

On the evening of day 9 you’ll arrive in Luxor and check in to your lodgings on dry land.

Days 10, 11, and 12 then allow for exploration of Luxor (see Luxor itineraries) including most sites on both the East and West bank of the River Nile.

Finally you’ll need to get back on an overnight train to Cairo on the evening of day 12 to bring you back into the capital early morning on day 13. After a free day of relaxing/souvenir shopping you then fly home on day 14.
