Good Restaurants in Dahab

Good Restaurants in Dahab

Considering that just about every pub, club, hotel and dive centre has a kitchen, good restaurants in Dahab are not hard to come by.

Dahab’s main strip is lined by back to back restaurants most offering a pretty spectacular Red sea view, competitively priced fish and shell fish, and free WiFi.

Menu prices are reasonable, but for the really fresh stuff order outside where the catch of the day is on display. Don’t be too shy to negotiate prices.

With an abundance of competition (starting just next door), you should be able to get the first price reduced considerably.

‘Al Capone’s’, ‘Friends’, and ‘Shark’ are all decent and well known choices. It’s worth mentioning that Al Capone’s has possible the best toilets in Dahab (life saving information is if your guts aren’t 100% healthy).

Away from the main strip, Sea Bride restaurant is also a good choice. It’s location in the bizarre means that it’s a little cheaper than its competition but not nearly as atmospheric.

Hotel Jasmine

Keep walking south along the cornice and eventually you’ll come to Hotel Jasmine about ten minutes walk from the centre. Hotel Jasmine is a good budget option with cheap rooms full of character and friendly, helpful staff.

Jasmine has a two story café outside on the beach with a shadeless top deck for anyone serious about frying themselves in the sun. At night time though the minimalist lighting and serving of cold beer and shisha make this one of the more relaxed eateries in town. Particularly noteworthy are the pancakes at breakfast. If you’re feeling very decadent try the Jasmine special.

Eel Garden Star

Eel Garden Star is a great place to relax, snorkel and soak up the rays away from the relative chaos of the lighthouse. Located 10 minutes north of the main strip, the restaurant here has its own private access (albeit a stony one) to popular snorkelling spot ‘Eel Gardens’, and a respectable lunch time menu featuring pizza, fish, seafood and more.

The Kosheri Man

A mobile kosheri van is a recent addition to Assalah. As prices have risen on the seafront, some bright soul has decided to bring Egypt’s best kept secret to the masses. Kosheri is healthy, tasty, vegetarian and a decent serving will cost you just 4 Egyptian pounds (0.5€).

Of course the restaurants won’t let you eat on their sun lounges, but there’s nothing stopping you from taking a stroll and sitting on a nearby wall why you finish your munch.
