Suggested Egypt Itineraries: 1 - 2
Weeks
Gulf of Aqaba to Cairo
via Upper Egypt
(Israel/Jordan Border – Nuweiba
– Dahab –Cairo)
Entering
Egypt overland
from Israel or Jordan ,
your first stop will be Nuweiba and its laid back resort of Tarabin.
Spend a night or two and then move down the coast to Dahab.
By basing yourself in
Dahab you can choose to either simply kick back, or organise trips and
excursions in the surrounding area. These might include a short trip to local snorkelling spots such as the blue
hole, a trekking or jeep safari through the desert to the coloured canyon, or an overnight effort to
Saint Catherine to climb the sacred Mount Sinai .
In any case Dahab is one of the nicer beach resorts in Egypt and one of
the few places where independent travellers outnumber the package tourists. There's plenty to do if you want,
plenty of parties, bars and people to meet.
By day 4/5 you need to start
thinking about moving on to Cairo for the flight home. Buses run from
Dahab town to Cairo each day. It's best to take the
overnight bus which will save you a day, and the cost of a night's accommodation.
With two days in Cairo you then have plenty of time to explore the pyramids, the markets and the museums.
Enjoy!
